About Us
In 2020, Sunflower Beach was created by Mary Tavo and Bridget Slater. These sisters were born and raised on a dairy farm in Kansas, the Sunflower State, in a large family of 13 children. Bridget is the 10th child and Mary is the 13th. Together they share a love of creating handcrafted treasures out of leftover or discarded material. Now they reside by the Beachy Florida and participate in craft shows in central Florida. Between full-time jobs and balancing families, Mary and Bridget find the time to find new and fun DIY projects to decorate their homes or create accent pieces for family and friends. Do you love fixer-upper decor? At Sunflower Beach, all our products are beautifully handcrafted! Created from materials destined for the landfill, our products may have nail holes, dents, knots, splinters, chips, or dings from previous use. These imperfections give them a rustic appeal and add character making each piece one of a kind. We rescue wood, tile, glass jars, corks, bottle caps, and more and give it a new purpose as a beautiful accent piece in your home.
